375
BIS Hallmark
9K gold

375 is the purity number for 9 karat gold — it means the piece contains 375 parts pure gold per 1,000. The BIS hallmark is applied by a government-accredited assaying centre after the piece passes a purity test. It is not self-declared.

The mark is stamped directly onto the metal. On small pieces it may be very fine — a loupe or strong magnification will make it clearly visible.*

*if your piece weighs <2 grams, it may not contain the hallmark — the surface area is simply too small to stamp reliably. But don't worry, your piece is solid gold and every UNPLATED piece comes with a BIS Certificate to prove it.

1
Download BIS Care
Available on the App Store and Google Play. It is a free app published by the Bureau of Indian Standards.
2
Open the HUID verification section
From the home screen, select "Know Your Gold" or the HUID verification option. HUID stands for Hallmark Unique Identification — a six-character alphanumeric code stamped on hallmarked pieces from 2021 onwards.
3
Locate the HUID on your piece
The HUID is a six-character code stamped alongside the BIS hallmark. It may require magnification to read clearly on smaller pieces.
4
Enter the code
Type the HUID into the app. The result will show the registered purity, the assaying centre, and the jeweller's details — confirming the piece is genuine.
Can't find the HUID?
It may require magnification to read clearly on the piece. If not found on the metal itself, your HUID is also printed on the physical Hallmark Card provided with your order. Still stuck? Write to us at contact with your order number.
1
Find a registered centre near you
BIS maintains a directory of accredited assaying and hallmarking centres across India. Use the BIS website to locate one in your city.
2
Bring your piece
Take the piece — and your order confirmation if possible — to the centre. They will conduct a purity test and confirm the hallmark details.
3
Receive a written confirmation
The centre will issue a written report confirming the gold content. This is the most thorough form of independent verification available.
